Charlie Culberson might be called “The Avenger” because of his notable affinity for the Marvel superhero series, and there’s no doubt that he was a big factor in the Texas Rangers‘ series win over the defending AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa this week.
But there’s another hero waiting in the wings for the Rangers, and his name is Adolis Garcia.
That’s right folks, the same player whose first career home run was unjustly snatched from him by replay in Wednesday night’s contest made sure his second attempt at career long ball No. 1 left no doubt on Thursday night’s series-clinching win in extra innings.

Adolis Garcia got his revenge and lifted the Texas Rangers to a series win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Sweet, sweet revenge. Sweet destiny.
That ball traveled a cool 366 feet and 101.1 MPH off the bat. One could say Garcia hit it with authority, and to the opposite field.
Oh, and Garcia got to be the cowboy after the game to top it all off. It doesn’t get better than this!
The 28-year-old outfielder also became the first Ranger to hit his first career home run as one of the go-ahead variety in extra innings.
The story that Garcia is writing so far this season is nothing short of a fairytale.

Coming off an excellent spring, Garcia didn’t make the initial cut on Opening Day, being forced to spend the beginning of the season at the Alternate Site.
Then, Ronald Guzman’s gruesome knee injury happened on Monday night. The rest, as they say, would be history.
Adolis Garcia sealed the Texas Rangers’ first road series win since 2019 with his extra-innings blast. The Rangers went 6-24 on the road in 2020. They’re already 4-3 in 2021.
Texas came into the series with a worse record than the Tampa Bay Rays. They left with a better one (6-7 vs. 5-8). They have Adolis Garcia to thank for that.
His energy, passion and pure joy playing the game has made him an instant sensation and fan favorite. He’s always had the potential, but it was whether he’d get his chance.
In a rebuilding year, it’s often difficult to envision there being many bright spots or heroes.
For the Texas Rangers and us, the fans, it looks like Adolis Garcia is coming to save us all.
