Amidst all the trade rumors buzzing around Texas Rangers‘ RF Joey Gallo, the power-hitting Gold Glover is raking above it all, tuning out the noise and continuing to be the player we always knew him to be.
Lately, things have been going especially well for Gallo, who now has five homers in his last three contests, as he has finally found the groove at the plate he couldn’t during a lost 2020 campaign.
He hit two homers in Texas’ 5-4 win over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night, extending his total to 18 long balls on the season.
Joey Gallo is the hottest hitter on the Texas Rangers right now, and they’re winning games. That’s no coincidence
Oh he’s feelin’ it, alright! This man is in his bag!
With an .862 OPS and an elite .390 OBP (all those walks are paying off!) on the season to go with those 18 long balls, the 27-year-old is back to his old ways, which is so refreshing to watch.

And it shouldn’t be a surprise that this tear Gallo’s on at the moment has resulted in the Texas Rangers’ longest winning streak to date this season: 4. A sweep of the KC Royals at home last weekend and their first win following an off day all season, and on the road to boot? Life’s pretty good for this team right now,.
For all the (rightful) hype surrounding Adolis Garcia and the surprising dominance of ace Kyle Gibson, Joey Gallo’s value to the Rangers shouldn’t be lost in fans’ purview. After all, he’s now Texas’ longest-tenured Ranger and the heart and soul of this ballclub. So when he’s going right, you can be sure his team will follow suit.
With the Gold Glove defense to pair with the high on-base percentage and the power resurgence, Gallo has resurrected himself in 2021, perhaps just in time for a potential deadline deal, but at the very minimum, just in time to kickstart the Texas Rangers’ longest winning streak of 2021 so far.
Maybe that latter point is why they should keep him around for a little while longer…
