The Texas Rangers‘ offense came alive this past weekend when the Kansas City Royals came to town, as the team swept the KC Royals at home for their second sweep of the season.

After the weekend homestand, the Rangers began a brief west coast trip with a three-game series against the Athletics. Texas will then travel further north to take on the Seattle Mariners this July 4th weekend.

Texas Rangers Weekly Report: Who’s Hot

Joey Gallo

Joey Gallo had a great weekend and is continuing that momentum into the new week, hitting 6 home runs against the Royals and Athletics. His recent power surge could once again start attracting trade offers from other teams around the league.

Nick Solak

Nick Solak’s late insurance home run against the Athletics was just what the Rangers needed to hold off the Athletics in the ninth on Tuesday night. Imagine the offense we would have if his batting was consistent.

Adolis Garcia

Adolis Garcia wanted in on the action this week as he chipped in two home runs and 5 RBI’s. It would be a travesty if he did not make it to the All-Star Game in Colorado. Make sure you vote so he can represent the Texas Rangers.

Texas Rangers Weekly Report: Who’s Not

Willie Calhoun

Ugh.

Ranger fans were hoping this was the breakout season Willie Calhoun would have before he fractured his elbow this past week. We all hope Willie has a great recovery, but I think it’s time to move on from him due to his frequent injuries.

Thoughts on past week

Kyle Gibson has continued to be a dominant pitcher in the American League. With a 6-0 record and a 2.00 ERA, he is linked to many playoff teams in trades at the trade deadline this year.

I personally hope the Rangers keep Gibson to re-sign him this offseason to a new contract and make him the cornerstone of this young Rangers pitching rotation. I know if the right offer comes along for the Rangers, he will be in a different uniform later this season. Ultimately, Texas should not make the mistake they made with Mike Minor and trade Gibby while he’s hot, but I’ll miss having him around.
