Texas Rangers: Adolis Garcia is the first rookie in MLB history to accomplish this
His second half hasn’t compared to his blazing first half, but Texas Rangers‘ rookie CF Adolis Garcia is still finding his way into the record books one way or another.
After hitting a clutch home run in Seattle to help lift the Rangers to a 5-4 win over the Mariners in extra innings, snapping yet another road losing streak in the process, “El Bombi” now has 25 long balls this season.

Not the first time he’s broken the hearts of Mariners fans this season.
It seems like he should still be the favorite to win AL Rookie of the Year even when factoring in Texas’ team struggles, and not just because of his overall numbers, which are still solid on the year.
He’s been the most clutch rookie in MLB history. That’s right, the most clutch rookie in the history of the game, and we’re not making this up! With his ninth inning blast Tuesday night, Adolis Garcia became the first rookie ever to hit four go-ahead home runs in the ninth inning or later in one season, according to Stats by STATS.
Stats by STATS. Clutch by Garcia.
It’s a wildly impressive stat for the 28-year-old All-Star rookie, who has shown his penchant for hitting in the clutch on multiple occasions this season, even if most of those came in the first half of the season.
Not sure how many other rookies in baseball, let alone veteran players, can say they’ve been this clutch in crunch time. It’s a testament to just how special Adolis Garcia has been, second half inevitable regression setting in or not.
Some will argue Garcia’s skillset isn’t one that can translate into becoming a fixture on this team going forward, and his relatively advanced age doesn’t help matters much either, but one thing is for sure: if he keeps crushing in the clutch like this, he’s surely going to earn future looks.
