No shortage of words to describe how poorly the Texas Rangers have played this season and a 10-15 May, with three games left, it can only get worse from here.

A lot needs to be done to change the mindset and approach on the field. It might be a change in leadership, possibly new strategy or even a jolt of energy. Not saying these moves will magically turn the season around but they do have the potential to at least make it look less frustrating.

Rangers could benefit from these 2 roster additions

Blaine Crim, 1B

We've been there before, I know. But at this point it couldn't be worse than what it already is for the Rangers.

Crim, 28, is a former 19th round draft pick of the Rangers and just recently arrived back in the organization after a brief stint in Colorado last year. He got 15 games with the Rockies where he slashed .241/.295/.556 with an .851 OPS (120 OPS+), hitting five home runs.

Seen as one of Round Rock's best players, he has 61 career home runs for the Express and 252 RBIs in 365 career games. In his second game back with Round Rock on Thursday, Crim went 5-for-5, hitting for the cycle and driving in five runs.

Cody Freeman, INF

Another player sitting in Triple-A, this time on a rehab assignment, is the Rangers' minor league player of year in Freeman.

The 25-year-old California native was on trek to challenge Josh Smith for the every day starting second baseman role in spring training until an early spring back injury sidelined him. Now, it's June and he's making the rounds in the minors to get back into the swing of things.

He made his big league debut in 2025 hitting .228 with three home runs, 15 RBIs and four doubles in 36 games. While not overpowering, Freeman did so in the clutch, leading what would become known as The Little Rascals on an epic August/September stretch that included a pair of six-game winning streaks.

One Rangers' player to move on from in June

Sam Haggerty, UT

Ever since the rise of Justin Foscue and Ezequiel, we see less and less the value of having Haggerty on the roster. Especially since he only has a .143 average and getting on base at a 20 percent clip.

In his second season with the Rangers, Haggerty was never going to be a go-to guy for any position on the diamond. And we've seen it, as the 32-year-old has really only gotten spot starts and pinch hit opportunities for 42 at-bats.
