The Texas Rangers' struggles to begin 2025 have spilled over to May and with it has arrived unexpected changes to the organization from players and personnel.

Change comes in all ways and can come in many different ways. Injuries may rush players, but the level of play has not met expectations this season as well.

It seems more often than other seasons, Texas Rangers' fans are paying close attention to the Double-A and Triple-A affiliates in search of any possible to look to who will be the next guy to root for.

Here are three prospects really coming into their own and are top candidates to be the next man up and it could happen as early as this season.

3 Rangers prospects who can debut in 2025 as offensive struggles continue to shake up roster

Alejandro Osuna

Osuna has been on a heater ever since February. He came into spring training with his hair on fire and even pushed to make the main roster. He has also been the hottest name in the Rangers system not named Sebastian Walcott.

Following the Leody Taveras release, we are not sure who will be the call up. Considering they just freed up a 40-man spot, Osuna may get added to the 40-man roster and be next up.

Evan Carter is likely to immediately replace Taveras in center field but Osuna is not far behind. Once he gets some time in Triple-A, it will only be imminent to get his promotion to the MLB.

Osuna could skyrocket up prospect lists not only internally across the league rankings as well. He is giving Chris Young a hard time to know when his time is and is advancing his ETA and clock game by game.

Following the shocking firing of Donnie Ecker mid season, the first ever mid-season firing of a Bruce Bochy staff member, and release of Leody Taveras, his time may be now.

Mitch Bratt

The starting pitching has begun to falter at the MLB level as of late which may bring about promotions from guys tearing it up in the lower levels of the system. Bratt fills that bill nicely.

To begin his 2025 season, Bratt has made 5 starts at AA Frisco to compile 25.2 innings, 29 strikeouts to a low 4 walks, and a 2.45 ERA. Since AA is Bratt's highest level so far, he will have to be tested at the AAA level more than likely.

With Rocker on the 15-day IL and struggling in the beginning half of 2025, there may be a need sooner rather than later for Bratt since Cody Bradford isn't much closer to returning as well.

I expect Bratt to get the call up to Round Rock and undergo his hardest test sooner rather than later. If all goes well, he may just end up one injury away from making his debut.

Kohl Drake

Drake is a prospect popular among close followers of the Rangers minor league affiliates. Where Bratt brings efficiency and consistency to the rotation, Drake is able to bring lightning and high levels of strikeouts.

In 16 1/3 innings at Frisco, he has already racked up 28 strikeouts and only nine walks to a 3.31 ERA. with hitters only batting .158 off the left-hander, and that might flash in a bullpen role.

Drake's path to the big league club this year might depend on a long relief or left-handed reliever spot opening up. Long-term he definitely projects to be a starter but the Rangers may need help soon.

The Rangers bullpen already carry three left handed relievers but Jacob Latz has been less than stellar and Drake could find himself in a long relief role similar to Latz if he gets fast tracked to big league club.

The Texas Rangers are likely to keep developing Drake as a starter in the minors, but lets not forget about September call ups as well. Drake is pushing to get promoted to Round Rock by the end of the year and may just get pushed into the big leagues sometime this season.
