It feels like a lifetime ago since the Evan Carter Era took place, yet here we are two seasons later and the Rangers might be in need of it again.

Even if they are in need of a little saving from the Little Savior himself in Carter, is he even in a state to provide that? Let's explore.

How has Evan Carter performed in Round Rock to kick off the season?

It's been a bit of a slow start for Carter in Triple-A this season. In the first 7 games of the year, Carter only recorded two hits and 8 strikeouts to the tune of a .080 average.

However, he has started to break out a bit lately slashing .320/.393/.640 with a home run, 5 runs batted in, three walks a stolen base and a 1.027 OPS in his last 10 games. He is also currently in the middle of a six-game hit streak and has reached base in all 17 games this season.

Carter still does struggle against left-handed pitchers with only one hit in 14 at-bats (.071) and six strikeouts to start the year. The one hit he did record was in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game against Sugar Land.

Overall he has raised his average to .235 and is getting on base 35.8% of the time, which is fourth-best behind Justin Foscue, Sam Haggerty and Blaine Crim.

What is Evan Carter's potential timeline to return to the big leagues?

The answer to this question is all up to need. What do the Rangers need at the position and spot in the lineup that he would likely fill?

Good news for Carter it's probably a good time to fill a need in the lineup since almost every batter is struggling to start the year. The likely spot he fills is a platoon centerfielder, sharing time with Leody Taveras and Kevin Pillar. If they do go that route, Dustin Harris would likely get optioned to Triple-A and the team would turn to an outfield of Wyatt Langford, Adolis Garcia, Carter, Taveras and Pillar.

That could be a couple of weeks, it could be next week or maybe even a month, we aren't really sure. The offense exploded for 15 runs and 18 hits Tuesday night against the A's but beyond that the at-bats were miles better, drawing a season-high nine walks. If that is indeed a switch flip then the Rangers might opt to keep Carter in Round Rock longer to build his confidence and maybe even help him find success against lefties.

If Texas doesn't seem to find their groove, it could be sooner rather than later that fans see Carter back in the outfield at Globe Life Field. Either way, Chris Young and Bruce Bochy have to be among the top of the list of those that are absolutely thrilled to see what Carter is doing in Round Rock at the moment.
