The Texas Rangers had a rough week at home winning only two of their six games, capping it off in terrible fashion being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies.

At 60-59, Texas has dropped their last four games and fallen back to 2.5 games back for the final Wild Card spot in the American League with as many as ten teams in the running for those three postseason spots.

The pitching is on pace to be one of the best in the league and perhaps the best the Rangers' franchise has ever seen. It's the offense that is struggling to piece anything together and that has been the storyline all season.

3 reasonable expectations for the remainder of the 2025 Texas Rangers season

Salvage some kind of offensive dignity

Now the postseason is still very much in reach but with their play it is looking like it will be a heck of a struggle to get into the playoff mix and make a solid run. They Rangers can achieve that by upping the offensive intensity and all that it takes is getting better in simple situations.

Entering an upcoming series with their 2023 World Series counterparts, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Rangers are the third-worst batting average, OBP, slugging and OPS, all while being bottom 10 among the worst offensive teams in Major League Baseball.

Even if they missed the playoffs this season but were able to put up respectable numbers to hang their heads up a little bit higher heading into the offseason.

Get Rangers' players their hardware

If they can't make the playoffs, at least there's an opportunity to get a handful of players their season awards. Looking into right now there's a few leading candidates in their respective categories.

First, Josh Smith has a chance to land the AL Utility Gold Glove award. The 28-year-old has played seven of the nine positions on the field and has done so at an All-Star level. Second, Nathan Eovaldi is the likely Rangers' candidate for the AL Cy Young Award.

It's not nearly as sweet as winning the World Series but I am sure Smith and Eovaldi will still be happy to receive recognition for their successful season.

Make Arlington an attractive destination for upcoming free agents

The way Texas can redeem themselves is to put together a great end of the season where upcoming free agents can see that despite a down season, they are still one of the best teams in MLB.

How do they do that? Well, hitting an offensive stride can do that. Even if they fall short of the postseason, it will show that they can end strong and are positive about the 2026 season.

The 2026 impending free agents include J.T. Realmuto, Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber, Josh Naylor, Dylan Cease, Zac Gallen and much more. A lot of players that can make this Rangers team a lot
