5 Texas Rangers prospects whose stock dramatically rose this season

The Texas Rangers wrapped up their season at the end of September. Throughout the season, some of their prospects dramatically rose through the rankings. Here are five Rangers prospects whose stock rose to the top throughout the season.

The Texas Rangers ended their season by failing to qualify for the Postseason. However, not all hope is lost. They have a bright future with how well many of their prospects performed in the minors. Here are five prospects who saw their stock rise dramatically this season.

5 Texas Rangers prospects whose stock dramatically rose this season

Texas Rangers Prospects: 5. Emiliano Toedo

Emiliano Toedo was a success this season. Due to his Spring Training performance, he was considered an option to come out of the Rangers' bullpen. However, he became a starting pitcher for the Frisco Roughriders and played in the MLB Futures Game in Arlington. I expect him to compete for a spot in the bullpen next year at spring training. His stock rose this season, and he is not far off from playing for the Rangers.

Texas Rangers Prospects: 4. Winston Santos

The Rangers have struggled in the past to develop pitching prospects. Winston Santos, along with Toedo and Rocker, have been success stories this season. Santos started with the Hickory Crawdads and finished the season with the Frisco Roughriders.

Santos is about three years away from being on the major league roster. The reason he's not on the roster is that the Rangers have pitchers under contract right now. He will be with the Rangers for a long time. Santos' stock definitely rose due to his performance this year.

Texas Rangers Prospects: 3. Alejandro Osuna

Alejandro Osuna started in Hickory with Santos and was promoted to the Roughriders later in the season. Santos finished the season with a .306 batting average. His strength and ability to wait for the perfect pitch at the plate make him a rising prospect in the organization. With the crowded outfield the Rangers have now though, it's hard to say when he would make it up to Texas.

Texas Rangers Prospects: 2. Sebastian Walcott

The Rangers have a tough decision coming up with Walcott after the season. It's a good problem to have given he's expedited his arrival to the major leagues after the season he just had. Walcott's strength at the plate got him promoted to the Frisco Roughriders, and I would say he's only one or two seasons away from making it on the Opening Day roster. But, they may need to trade one of their infielders for that to happen.

Texas Rangers Prospects: 1. Kumar Rocker

There's no doubt that the Rangers will have Rocker in their bullpen or starting rotation next season. Many fans thought Rocker was going to struggle after recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he still found himself in Arlington to end the season. Rocker originally started his season with the Frisco Roughriders and earned a 0.46 ERA during his time there. He continued to dominate on the mound with the Round Rock Express, finishing with a 1.80 ERA.

While he struggled with Texas, that was expected to a degree. Management will probably monitor his offseason workouts and figure out a place to put him on the 40-man roster next season. Until some of the starting rotation finishes their contracts, he could be a great relief pitcher out of the bullpen. It would be interesting to see if Rocker becomes the closer if the Rangers can't sign Kirby Yates this offseason.
