For the past several weeks, the Texas Rangers have been without veteran stars including Corey Seager, Marcus Semien and Adolis Garcia. Yet, the team has not lost ground, getting even closer to overtaking the final wild card spot in the American League.
Whether it is the Seattle Mariners or the Houston Astros, the Rangers have been applying pressure on their AL West rivals by winning seven of their last nine games.
It has been a combination of some new names that have been contributing and one of those is former Seattle Mariners utility man Dylan Moore, who the organization claimed as a free agent off waivers on August 29.
Dylan Moore has found new life as a Texas Ranger
Moore was slumping badly for the Mariners when they decided to cut ties with him three weeks ago. Between July 20 and August 20, he was just 2-for-42.
Since arriving in Arlington, Moore has found his swing and has become a key contributor as both a starter and utility man coming off the bench.
As a member of the Texas Rangers, Moore is hitting .316 with a .932 OPS, two home runs, six runs batted in and five runs scored in 12 games.
Moore has joined the infectious energy of 'The Little Rascals'
Much of the Rangers' late-season success has been attributed to the infectious exuberance of guys like Alejandro Osuna, Cody Freeman, Michael Helman, Dustin Harris and Ezequiel Duran, who have affectionately been dubbed 'The Little Rascals' by teammates.
Some of that youthful energy has definitely rubbed off on Moore as the 33-year-old Yorba Linda, California native, has come in and bought into the culture that is being fueled by a roster that currently lacks marquee names.
You can be sure that Moore would like nothing more than to be part of the team that knocks the Mariners out of the postseason, as the Rangers begin a huge three-game series in Houston.
