This Dodgers rookie just tied an incredible Corey Seager record

A Dodgers' rookie record that has stood for 10 years is no longer thanks to Hyeseong Kim.

Records are meant to be attainable and that's exactly what happened in Los Angeles last week.

A rookie record set by then-Dodger shortstop Corey Seager back in 2015 was tied by another Dodgers' infielder, Hyeseong Kim.

Kim reached base in nine consecutive plate appearances last week. The streak began on Wednesday, May 14 against the A's when he singled off Gunnar Hoglund and ended Friday, May 16 after grounding out in the bottom of the eighth.

During that stretch, Kim recorded seven hits (including his first MLB home run), two walks and scored five runs.

From South Korea, the 26-year-old was signed by the Dodgers during the offseason after spending eight years in the Korean Baseball Organization where he hit .304 with 1,034 hits in 953 career games. Kim made his MLB Debut earlier this month with Los Angeles.

Since that debut, he's appeared in 16 games and is slashing .378/.410/.486 with a homer, five runs driven in, two walks and a .896 OPS. He also proves his value through his defensive versatility, having already played centerfield, shortstop and second base in his first few weeks in the league.

Seager spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Dodgers after being drafted by the organization out of high school in 2013. He made his MLB Debut in 2015 and helped the Dodgers win the 2020 World Series over the Tampa Bay Rays, winning his first WS MVP Award.

He signed that 10-year, $325 million contract with the Rangers prior to the 2022 season and has been every bit as advertised, despite the consistent injury concerns. He won his second championship and WS MVP Award in 2023 and finished second in AL MVP voting two seasons ago.

Now Kim is not trying to be the next Seager. He's simply trying to be him. But a career like Seager's in Dodger blue is not a bad blueprint of name to be associated with.
