Most of the talk around the farm recently has centered on whether the Texas Rangers should explore calling up their undisputed top prospect, Sebastian Walcott, when the rosters expand to 28 in September. Well, don't look now, but there is another Frisco RoughRider who is making a strong case to get the call from the big-league club.
The 2nd-round draft pick in 2024 out of the University of Tennessee is on a tear at the plate, and people within the organization are starting to take notice. He is in the middle of an unbelievable streak that is turning heads and may earn him a cup of coffee at the end of the season.
Dylan Dreiling is hitting so well that he could put himself in line for a Rangers call-up
Dylan Dreiling is in the midst of a 13-game hit streak. During that span, he is slashing an otherworldly .444/.500/.815/1.315 with 5 HRs and 14 RBI. He has lifted his overall average to .310 with a .916 OPS.

The 5-foot-10-inch, 200-pound lefty can play all three outfield spots with plus range and has a decent arm. He has been Frisco's most consistent offensive force, with Walcott missing almost all of the season after suffering a UCL injury in the preseason that required surgery and three months of rehab.
To be clear, Walcott is still the top prospect within the organization, as he is the No. 9 overall prospect in the country according to MLB Pipeline. He has also raked since returning ahead of schedule. Nevertheless, Dreiling, who is the Rangers' No. 10 prospect, is making quite an impression and arguing that he should be mentioned alongside Walcott on the short list of potential September call-ups.
Dreiling is 23 years old and has shown tremendous plate discipline, boasting an OBP of .383 while earning 50 walks in 394 at-bats. He hits to all fields and has really turned up the power in 2026, smashing 21 home runs and driving in 73 runs. That is up from 12 dingers and 62 RBIs at Hub City in 2025 - and in fewer plate appearances.
In fact, Dreiling struggled mightily in Hi-A last season, slashing .226/.319/.381, and that came after failing to impress in his post-draft cameo in 2024. He was starting to look like a bust, but this development has flipped the narrative on its head. He's really improved his swing decisions, leading to an 8.3% swinging strike rate that is fueling his breakout.
At the very least, he is changing the narrative regarding whether and when he should be considered for his major-league debut, and this recent hot streak is further evidence that Dreiling may have turned the corner and could be ready to take a major step up in competition sooner rather than later.
