Jake Burger's injury comes at worst possible time for Rangers

The 29-year-old's latest injury is more bad timing for the club.

When it rains it pours for the Texas Rangers this season and the organziation can't seem to catch a break as they have tragically faded from playoff contention over the past week.

The latest bit of bad news is that first baseman Jake Burger is back in Dallas having an MRI on his wrist and is expected to miss at least three games and could easily land on the IL for a third time this season. The news comes at the same time that former Rangers Gold Glove 1B Nathaniel Lowe is preparing to sign elsewhere.

Rangers would have had interest in Lowe to replace Burger

Lowe is having a career-worst season and has just been DFA'd by the Washington Nationals. The former Rangers' slugger is now set to join the Boston Red Sox as they make a push for the playoffs in a tightly contested AL East race.

Despite his struggles this season, you have to imagine President of Baseball Operations Chris Young and the Rangers would have had ample interest in bringing Lowe back to Arlington as Burger's status is questionable moving forward and he has been injury prone all season.

Lowe could've been a spark for the stumbling Rangers clubhouse

Lowe could have been just the jolt the inconsistent offense needed, even though he hasn't been in top form recently. He has a great track record with Bruce Bochy and all the members of the 2023 World Series-winning team and would fit seamlessly back into the clubhouse.

Alas, in a season where the hitters can't seem to put one foot in front of the other, the Red Sox have beaten the Rangers to the punch, and Lowe will look to rectify what has been a poor season with a late-season playoff run in Boston.
