The 2025 Texas Rangers have taken their fanbase on a serious rollercoaster ride with some very bright highs and some very dark lows.

Unfortunately, after a brutal sweep at the hands of the playoff-bound Philadelphia Phillies, we are sitting squarely on one of the season's deepest nadirs.

You have to wonder if getting run out of their own building over the weekend was the final gasp for the Rangers this year. The numbers certainly back it up.

The Rangers playoff chances fell off a cliff following the Philly sweep

For most of the season, the Rangers' chances of making the playoffs have been floating between 25% and 75%. Following the thumping by the Phillies, the Rangers are sitting at just a 22% chance of seeing the postseason.

Before Texas welcomed Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and company to Globe Life Field, the team was looking much better with a 41% chance of sneaking into a wild-card spot.

So, you have to be asking yourself, are the Rangers really cooked? Should we put a fork in this uneven team that can't seem to find any consistency on offense?

The Rangers have the most difficult schedule left in the entire league

With just over 40 games left to play in the season, the Rangers face a steep uphill battle to reach the playoffs.

It would have been a difficult ask even if they played an easy schedule over the final quarter of the season, but the league has saddled Texas with the most difficult gauntlet in all of MLB.

The Rangers still have six games with the AL West-leading Houston Astros, a three-game set at AL East-leading Toronto, three with AL Central leader Milwaukee Brewers and six more with the Cleveland Guardians - the team ahead of the Rangers in the wild card standings.

It is only going to get more difficult from here on out, and the Rangers have not shown the ability to beat good teams all season because they consistently come up short in key situations with RISP.

They have the arms, but don't have the clutch gene at the plate. The deGrom loss was particularly backbreaking, because the ace did all he could for 6+ innings, but the Rangers couldn't score, and he ended up with the loss.

Let's just say that the fat lady has arrived just off stage, is warming up her vocal chords, and is waiting to go on.
