Game six preview: Texas Rangers out to snap skid against the Astros
The Texas Rangers take their six game road win-streak down to Minute Maid Park in the 2023 ALCS
One pitch to Adolis Garica into his side and both benches cleared in route to a game five victory by the Houston Astros. The game went right along with the motif of the road teams wins and the Astros remained hot in Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Well, game six isn't in Arlington. Game six will be decided in Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, 7:03p.m. CDT.
Right hander Nathan Eovaldi (3-0 2.29 ERA) will face Houston's left handed pitcher Framber Valdez (0-2 11.57 ERA). Eovaldi has earned three wins in each of his starts and have only given up two home runs and his three straight wins to open up a postseason joins only Cliff Lee in Rangers history.
Eovaldi has been in potential postseason elimination games as the starter. Both were with the Boston Red Sox as he went 1-1. This will also be his 5th postseason start at Minute Maid park. That ties him with Burt Hooten for the most postseason starts at a single venue. Hooten previously made five starts for the Los Angeles Dodgers at Yankee Stadium from 1977-1981
Framber Valdez has two starts this postseason and has given up nine earned runs in seven innings pitched.
The only issue in postseason extending games in Texas Rangers history is they are 1-8 in potential postseason elimination games. Credit Cliff Lee's complete game against the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2010 American League Division Series.
