Game 1 of the ALCS saw the Texas Rangers take the 1-0 series lead by beating the Houston Astros by a score of 2 to 0. The game flipped home-field advantage in the series and set up an important Game 2 for both clubs. The Astros will be doing everything they can to keep from falling behind 2-0 and the Rangers will look to get greedy and head back to Arlington with two wins to their credit.
Today's game will feature yet another excellent pitching matchup as the Rangers will send RHP Nathan Eovaldi to the mound to face off against LHP Framber Valdez. This will be Eovaldi's 14th playoff appearance and Valdez's 15th. Eovaldi is 2-0 in 13 2/3 innings pitched this postseason and boasts a 1.32 ERA and 1.06 FIP. In his only playoff appearance this season, Valdez took the loss to the Twins in the ALDS by pitching 4 1/3 innings, walking three, giving up seven hits, and allowing five earned runs.
This could be another pitcher's duel, or these two high-powered offenses could turn it into a slugfest. Either way, you will want to make sure and tune in.
What TV channel are the Texas Rangers on today (October 16)?
There are two MLB playoff games today, as the NLCS gets started tonight between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks. This afternoon's game between the Rangers and the Astros will be broadcast nationally on Fox. It isn't a must-win for the Astros, but it is a game that they will want to win and not fall further behind the Rangers. The odds of winning the series shifted into the Rangers favor last night, and they will be looking to swing them even further in their direction this afternoon.
