The holidays came earlier for Texas Rangers' fans, as Texas won the World Series three weeks ago.
After years of heartache and missed opportunities, it was the team's first title.
There was so much for Rangers' fans to be thankful for. During the postseason, the team went undefeated on the road. Various players also stepped up when called upon.
Adolis Garcia became the team's home run hitter. Jordan Montgomery solidified himself as a dominant starter in the league. Who could forget the heroic efforts of Nathan Eovaldi?
Texas Rangers' fans thankful for Team's Draft Selection
However, the biggest splash came during the 2019 and 2020 MLB drafts. This is something Rangers fans are thankful for this Thanksgiving season.
On June 3rd, 2019, the team drafted Josh Jung with the eighth selection. The Rangers' third baseman made his debut during the 2022 season.
Jung hit a solo home run against the Toronto Bue Jays in his first at-bat with the team.
Jung leaped this past season when he became the team's official third baseman. He started the season hot and was named as starter for the All-Star game.
In Game 4 of the World Series, Jung's heroic efforts helped extend the series lead for the Rangers. The team was tied in the 2nd inning when he scored off a wild pitch. He posted a .311 batting average during the game while recording three hits and two runs in five at-bat attempts.
In 2022, Jung batted .204. He recorded 20 hits, four runs, and 14 RBIs in his full season with the Rangers. A year later, he improved his batting numbers. He upped his batting average and knocked in 23 homers, 127 hits, and 70 RBIs.
He also finished fourth in the AL's Rookie of the Year voting.
Evan Carter, too, was a big part of the team's turnaround. During the 2023 season, he recorded 19 hits, 14 runs, and five homers. Not to mention, he did all this in the last few weeks of the season.
His best performance came in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, where he had a two-run RBI to help send Texas to the World Series. This would have not been possible if the Rangers never called up Carter.
Who could forget Cater's off-the-wall catch in Game 1 against Houston?
Thanks to Jung and Carter, the Texas Rangers are now World Series champions.
If there is anything to be thankful for this Holiday season, it's the draft selection of Jung and Carter. So, thank you to the Rangers' organization.
It seems as though those player may be around for a long time.
