The Rangers' pitching staff was terrific in 2025. In fact, their MLB-leading 3.47 ERA was the best in club history and the only thing that kept the team in the hunt while the offense was inconsistent at best.
Duplicating such a stellar year will be difficult. Still, with a starting rotation that includes the likes of two-time Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, and the promising Jack Leiter, it is reasonable to expect this 'big three' could put up similar numbers in 2026, barring any significant injuries.
What will Rangers starters deGrom, Eovaldi, and Leiter's stat lines look like this season?
Jacob deGrom was undoubtedly the best story of 2025, as he was able to put in a full 30 starts and pitch more than 90 innings for the first time since 2019. Knock on wood, the 37-year-old will be able to do the same this season and put together another Cy Young caliber campaign.
Jacob deGrom's projected 2026 stat line:
14-7, 3.02 ERA .098 WHIP, and 165 strikeouts in 168 innings pitched
DeGrom's win total, like Eovaldi's and Leiter's, is predicated on the Rangers offense being better than it was last season, which isn't asking very much.
Nathan Eovaldi was right in the mix for the Cy Young last season, along with Tarik Skubal and Garrett Crochet, until a late-season sports hernia injury sidelined the right-hander before he could pitch enough innings to qualify for the award. Staying healthy enough to make at least 25-28 starts should be a priority for him in 2026.
Nathan Eovaldi's projected 2026 stat line:
13-5, 2.96 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 146 strikeouts in 157 innings pitched.
Jack Leiter is surging after a sparkling second half of the season in 2025, but he is also still very young and doesn't have the track record of the other two. He has the stuff to put up similar numbers, but it may take another season before he puts it all together and starts to become dominant. He should still improve upon his breakout 2025 season, however.
Jack Leiter's projected 2026 stat line:
12-10, 3.36 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 189 strikeouts in 187 innings pitched.
Of course, on top of getting better run support, the Ranger bullpen will have to be prepared to protect the leads that will be given to them.
