One of the most prolific long ball threats in Major League Baseball is getting set to hit the open market at 32 years old and showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Kyle Schwarber, the left-handed masher of the baseball, will likely depart from the Philadelphia Phillies this winter after coming off the final season of his four-year, $79 million deal. Not only does Schwarber find himself as one of the three National League Silver Slugger finalists at DH, he's also coming off the best season of his Phillies' career.

This will attract a large amount of interested buyers and according to MLB.com Insider Mark Feinsand, the Texas Rangers might be one of those teams.

Schwarber's power in Globe Life Field would solve 2 years of offensive underperformance

Fresh off his 11th year in the big leagues, Schwarber played in all 162 of the Phillies regular season games and four of their postseason games. During the year, he topped all of the National League with 56 home runs and 132 RBIs, which trailed only Seattle's Cal Raleigh in the overall MLB leaderboards.

He also tied some of his career best numbers, including his .928 OPS, a career best .563 slugging percentage, 145 hits and 111 runs scored. Schwarber also made history in helping the NL All-Stars beat the AL All-Stars in the Midsummer Classics first ever homer swing-off.

The Rangers rightfully should be part of the conversation to attract Schwarber. In search of designated hitter help for a few years now, President of Baseball Operations Chris Young thought he solved the issue signing Joc Pederson last season but that just ended with more questions.

Pederson struggled, finishing the year with a .181 average, nine homers and 26 RBIs in just 96 games in his first season with Texas. Schwarber, a powerful lefty, tends to chase/swing and miss a lot but the rate of which he puts the ball in play, barrels up the baseball just mashes it, can't be overlooked.

Even though Globe Life Field has become surprisingly less hitter friendly since the inagural season in 2020, the park's dimensions play well to Schwarber's strength and tendency of hitting the ball to right field and lefties seeing consistently better homer potential.

Having hit in the second spot in the lineup for over 445 plate appeances in 2025, Schwarber also has experience hitting in the other top four lineup spots, including leadoff. Mixing that into the top of the order of Corey Seager, Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter; it could be an ever intimidating 1-4 to face in 162 games.

Who else will likely be bidding for Schwarber's services this winter?

As Feinsand mentioned, Schwarber is entering the winter among the top free agents in MLB, alongside Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, Bo Bichette and Cody Bellinger. Earlier this year, Feinsand also predicted Schwarber will get a multi-year deal north of $100 to $125 million.

He will enter his aged-33 season in 2026, he will make any lineup immediately better. While Feinsand isn't the only writer giving their opinion on this, he believes Texas is a fit among returning to Philadelphia or singing with the Cincinnati Reds.

Other rumored bidders include the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers. It all comes down to who not only can give him the best deal but also what best fits the latter of his career goals.
