The Texas Rangers announced on Wednesday that Adolis Garcia's MRI on left oblique showed a mild strain and it's not expected to sideline him that long. Manager Bruce Bochy said it was "pretty mild" and will not miss any significant time and will return before Opening Day.
"I've not seen him [Garcia] today. I'm going to grab him after I'm done here. It's not quite to the degree Langford hsa. Langford was a Grade 1 and they felt Garcia's is between the 0 and 1, I guess," Bochy said.
Garcia was scheduled to hit ninth and DH for the Rangers in Tuesday's spring game against the Athletics but scratched a couple hours before game time.
Garcia, 32, is in search of a comeback season after a challenging 2024 season where he hit .224/.284/.400 with 25 homers while chasing more pitches and struggled to have any kind of success of opposing pitcher's fastballs.
A few weeks ago, Garcia told reporters that he will feeling healthy again and spent the offseason tinkering with his swing and getting it back on the right path. He set a lofty goal for himself in 2025, eyeing to hit 50 home runs, which would be a career-high for the slugger.
Adolis Garcia said his goal is to hit 50 homers this season. He shared that his knees feel healthy and strong and that heβs worked on improving his bat speed.

So far this spring, Garcia is hitting .316 in 19 at-bats for Texas. He has yet to hit a home run but he's taken a couple of walks and prioritizing contact over power with six of hit eight hits being singles.
Taking his place in the lineup on Tuesday at DH is Jake Burger with Josh Smith, Evan Carter and Alejandro Osuna managing the outfield.
Earlier this week, Bochy told reporters that Langford has returned to baseball activities throwing, running and taking swings in the cages and will make his spring debut on Friday evening against Colorado, alongside Jacob deGrom.
In the meantime, while Garcia and Langford are out, the Rangers will lean on a combination of Leody Taveras, Carter, Osuna, Smith and Dustin Harris to fill the outfield spots.
