Before 2022, red jerseys were a mainstay for a team that has the main colors of red, white and blue. Then came MLB's jersey rules and restrictions which limited teams to five jersey combos, including the Nike City Connects, meant the end of the red alternates.
City Connect jerseys are were introduced MLB-wide to honor the past or historical significance that teams have. The last edition, retired at the end of 2025, for the Texas Rangers brought about fan favorites such as the "Peagle," a cream color and questionable navy blue pants, all while embodying the spirit of Rangers baseball in the Metroplex.
A jersey for all of Texas.

Overall they were received well received by fans. The only notable complaint was the pants color which went against the typical grey or white color worn by teams. It wasn't the worst blending of apparel the Rangers have attempted but it also wasn't the best either.

The significance to the red, white and blue colors goes back all the way to their days in Washington, D.C. That rotation of colors has not changed despite moving from the nation's capital to the Lone Star State. Not having a jersey with one of those main colors is not well received by fans.
Not having a jersey with one of those main colors was not well received by fans and in years since have been not only begging for the return of red in the hats and accessories.
Bringing back a fan favorite jersey is a start to getting back into fans' good graces. the Rangers have chance to right the ship with the introduction of their newest City Connect lineup releasing next year and put red jerseys back into rotation and potentially bring back "Red Fridays."
This is a good chance for the Rangers to embrace a "new old" look. Bringing in a new manager will bring about a culture shift that could embrace the team and its history just like the City Connect jerseys do.
There isn't much positive momentum for this team currently. Rumors of shrinking payroll while teams inflating payroll like the Dodgers are enjoying success isn't exactly a welcome progression. Hopefully the look good, feel good, play good saying with a red jersey can come to be a reality.
