Rangers prospect's incredible hot streak has ended, but the bar has been raised for 2027

One of the best stories to come out of the Texas farm system this season has been the meteoric rise of outfielder Dylan Dreiling, capped off by his phenomenal 25-game hitting streak in August. At just 23-years-old, the University of Tennessee product has become one of the organization's brightest stars in the making.

As a left-handed hitter with power to all fields, he has worked his way to the cusp of the club's top 10 prospects, according to MLB Pipeline. He has risen from rookie ball to Double-A Frisco in just two years. The hitting streak may have ended at 25, but it was the cherry on top of a minor league career that now has him on the doorstep of the Rangers' major league plans starting in 2027.

Dylan Dreiling's 25-game hitting streak cemented his place as one of the future stars of the Rangers

Dreiling's hitting streak began on July 31 with a two-run homer against the Corpus Christi Hooks and lasted until September 6, when he finally went hitless in 4 at-bats against the Amarillo Sod Poodles. During that stretch, he was an otherworldly 44-for-108, which is good for a .407 average. Of his 44 knocks, 33 were for extra bases, and he cranked 12 home runs, knocking in 39.

The 25-game streak ranks second, behind only one-time top prospect Jurickson Profar, who set the Frisco franchise record of 29 straight games during the 2012 season. Dreiling's outrageous run left him with a .314/.384/.527. His 2026 totals were a .314 batting average with 22 jacks and 83 RBIS across 111 games.

More importantly, it moved him onto the short list of prospects looking to make waves for the Rangers in the majors in 2027. Dreiling's streak and amazing consistency over nearly a month and a half have put him behind only Sebastian Walcott as the most promising positional player within the entire organization.

Nobody really saw this coming either. In 2025, at High-A Hub City, Dreiling slashed an unimpressive .226/.319/.381 with 12 home runs and 62 RBI in 110 games. Now, he has completely changed the narrative surrounding his timeline and will go to spring training in Surprise next Fall with the intention of breaking camp with the major league squad.

The Rangers are set in left field for the foreseeable future with Wyatt Langford and in right field with the veteran Brandon Nimmo. Still, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that Dreiling could push Evan Carter for the center field spot (fingers crossed) or leapfrog Cameron Cauley on the outfield depth chart. He has hit lefties well, too (.268/.372/.474).

Dreiling was always a top prospect since joining the organization out of college, but his barrage to end the 2026 campaign has him squarely in the spotlight for a quick promotion to either Triple-A Round Rock or even Arlington if he continues to adapt and mash at such an ungodly rate. He will definitely be one to watch when camp starts next season.
