Texas Rangers drop to 4-5 in 2026 Grapefruit League play with Friday's loss to Chicago White Sox; MacKenzie Gore looked solid, Alexis Díaz struggled
The Rangers dropped their Friday game against the White Sox by a score of 3-1. Cameron Cauley hit two doubles, including an RBI double that drove in Alejandro Osuna for Texas' lone run.
MacKenzie Gore made a solid start, hurling three scoreless innings while allowing three hits and no walks with one strikeout.
Alexis Díaz struggled significantly, allowing all three runs on two hits (one homer) and a walk with one strikeout over 2/3 of an inning. Mason Thompson pitched a scoreless 1/3 of an inning, and Robert Garcia, Jakob Junis, Josh Sborz and Leandro Lopez each threw a scoreless inning.
Evan Carter, Orlando Martinez and Jake Burger each collected a single in the loss.
The Rangers' loss to the White Sox came after losing both split-squad games to the Milwaukee Brewers and Athletics on Thursday. Texas has also lost games against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals this spring. The Rangers' four victories came against the Chicago Cubs, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels and Cleveland Guardians.
Corey Seager scratched from Rangers' game vs. White Sox
The Rangers scratched Corey Seager, who has gone 1-for-7 with a single and a walk this spring, from the lineup on Friday due to the shortstop feeling under the weather, according to MLB.com's Kennedi Landry. Seager is expected to miss around a couple of days.
Skip said Corey Seager was scratched because he’s feeling under the weather and he’ll be down a couple days or so. It’s going around the clubhouse right now.
