MLB Network has been counting down its version of the top 100 players of 2026 over the past several weeks, and the Rangers have been well-represented with a handful of star players making the cut.

Alongside teammates Wyatt Langford (69), Nathan Eovaldi (64), and Jacob deGrom (50), superstar shortstop Corey Seager joins the list as the highest-ranked Ranger at number 37.

Rangers shortstop Corey Seager has shown MVP-level talent at a premium position

Since signing a 10-year $325 million deal with the Rangers in 2022, Seager has been the team's best hitter while also playing the most important defensive position on the field outside of catcher.

In four full seasons, he has led the team in almost every important offensive statistic, including bWAR (22.2), HRs (117), batting average (.278), and OPS at .918.

He has represented Texas in the All-Star game three times in those four years and finished second in AL MVP voting following his stellar World Series season in 2023, when he slashed an astounding .327/.390/.623 (174 OPS+) with 33 home runs, 96 RBI and a league-leading 42 doubles.

By most defensive metrics, Seager has also been sensational defensively at shortstop, turning in Gold Glove-caliber play despite not having won the award yet. His 98.2% fielding percentage as a Ranger is among the top in the league. Last season, he posted four Outs Above Average, which ranked in the 85th percentile.

If Corey Seager could avoid the injury bug, he'd be much higher on MLB Network's list

Seager has only played 495 games in four seasons in Arlington, averaging just 123 per year. Other than his 151 games played in 2023, he has not played in more than 123 games in any season as a Ranger. In 2025, Seager played in just 103 games.

If you extrapolate the slugger's prodigious numbers over a full season, they would be even more eye-popping and have a case in the MVP debate more frequently.

Unfortunately, Seager has been a frequent visitor on the IL list with a litany of ailments to his core and lower body that have curbed his overall output at the plate.

New skipper Skip Schumaker and Ranger fans are keeping their fingers crossed that they can get a solid 140 or more games from Seager in 2026, as they will need him to anchor a lineup that is looking to rebound from a shaky 2025 season.
