Has anyone really examined the idea that someone on the Texas Rangers performed some black magic to win the World Series in 2023? Is Evan Carter the latest victim of the all-too-predictable backfiring of said dark juju?

Whether it’s the universe and karma correcting itself, or simply more bad luck for a team that keeps getting hit with tidal waves of it, the Rangers looked like they were rolling right along to their fourth win in five games when the team and fans all of the sudden needed to hold their collective breath.

Evan Carter’s wrist jam ends his night early, putting Rangers’ June surge on injury watch

Centerfielder Evan Carter, one of the hottest hitters on a resurgent Texas Rangers offense, had to exit the game in the seventh inning on Friday night against the Chicago Whitesox. The injury came to his wrist while he made a diving catch earlier in the contest.

The good news here might be that while it’s thought Carter jammed his wrist, it was minor enough that he could play for several more innings. Granted, that’s a small comfort considering it wasn’t like the Rangers were engaged in a cakewalk (leading just 3-0) when he had to exit.

For now, we just have to sit and wait to see what the Texas Rangers say about Carter’s injury. Should he be out long, it would mean a team suddenly looking like a playoff team again, missing a hitter who has posted an astounding .440/.500/.880/1.380 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI in June. If he does have to miss any real time, it will also be the latest injury setback for a squad starting to see those pile up.
