The Texas Rangers are at their best mark since 10 games into the 2025 regular season and have been responsible for a dramatic shift in the American League playoff picture over the last week and a half.

At 56-50, Texas is six games over .500 for the first time since April 6 and are currently tied for their longest winning streak of the year, six games. The Rangers will finally depart from Arlington for a West Coast road trip with heads held high and hope on the horizon.

Rangers nearly go undefeated during recent home stretch

The Rangers were nearly perfect in their nine game stretch at Globe Life Field, only losing one game to the reigning and 2025 frontrunner for AL Cy Young in Tarik Skubal. Even that one loss was just 2-1, which was decided in the last couple of innings.

Besides that, Texas took two of three from Detroit to kick off the second half then swept the Athletics and Braves to wrap up with an 8-1 record. In that time span, they've won five straight games and find themselves slowly chipping away at Houston's division lead and are tied for a Wild Card spot.

The Rangers' offense scored 44 runs in those nine games while the Rangers' starting rotation only allowed nine runs to their opponents. This was a much-needed stretch before they embark on a crucial West Coast trip on Monday.

Surviving week in West Coast is crucial to Rangers' postseason chances

Currently only four games out of the AL West, tied with Seattle for second place, Texas will play seven games this week against division foes Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners.

Both the Rangers and Mariners are trying to close the gap between them and the Houston Astros for top seed in the division. But the two are also neck and neck for the final AL Wild Card spot. Therefore, any chance you get to go head-to-head with that team, you must take advantage of it.

Texas is in a good spot to make up ground, as they are easily one of the hottest teams in baseball right now. At 9-1 in their last 10 games they've won four series in a row dating back to their win over Houston before the All-Star Break.

As for their opponents, Houston is 4-6 in their last 10 games while the Mariners are an even 5-5 in that smiliar stretch.

What will the Rangers decide to do at the trade deadline?

Outside of this being a vital week for the team on the field, President of Baseball Operations Chris Young will have his hands full with the trade deadline approaching on Thursday.

The consensus has been mixed around Major League Baseball on what the Rangers will end up doing. It seems that they will add to their roster but Young went on record last week saying they feel it might be internal while MLB insiders Jeff Passan and Bob Nightingale believe Texas will be heavy buyers.

It's been talked about in length here but Texas can use upgrades in the back half of their bullpen, as well as, a first baseman and/or designated hitter. Plenty of options are on the table such as Baltimore's Ryan O'Hearn, Atlanta's Marcell Ozuna or even in divison with the Angels' Taylor Ward.

For bullpen arms, well, really go to any non-contender and find a suitable arm that works for what you need. St. Louis has Ryan Helsley and Steven Matz, Pittsburgh has Mitch Keller and David Bednar, Cleveland has Emmanuel Clase. Pick and choose what best fits.
