As Game One of the World Series kicked off last night to an 11-4 thrashing north of the border, all the way in the south of the country rumors have been flying as the Texas Rangers are prepping for the dam to break loose this winter.
Set to lose pretty much their entire bullpen and eyeing ways to make their offense not terrible like its been the past two seasons, President of Baseball Operations Chris Young and new manager Skip Schumaker will try to rebuild.
While they are looking to keep costs below the luxury tax, hopefully they finally view winning, being successful and bringing another World Series title to Arlington.
Phillies' sluggers to Texas?
Rumors have been swirling lately and two of those include longtime members of the Philadelphia Phillies: Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos. While Schwarber is a free agent, Castellanos is still under contract but heavily predicted to either get released or traded this winter.
Schwarber, 32, is set to command a deal north of $100 million after finishing his fourth year with Philly with a National League-leading 56 home runs and 132 RBIs. Castellanos on the other hand, might be on his way out due to differences in role and incoming talent. He is owed $20 million in 2026 and could be a solution to a struggling offense.
Boston outfielder could make Rangers' young outfield trio elite for years to come
Another top name on the rumor mill that Texas could attempt to trade for his the 29-year-old outfielder Jarren Daren in Boston. Earlier this week, The Athletic's Jim Bowden included Duran as one of his top 10 players to be traded this winter. He also listed Texas as a potential destination.
“Jarren Duran’s name keeps coming up in trade rumors and it now sounds like the Red Sox will move on from him this winter," Bowden writes. Now, imagine Duran patrolling the outfield alongside a hopefully healthy Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford the next five to six years. Magical.
Former Ranger hoping for family's first World Series ring
As the World Series kicks off, the face of the Toronto Blue Jays is finally looking to lock up a World Series ring for the family. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is now three wins away from bringing a championship to Toronto for the first time since 1993 and his dad Vladdy Sr. is pumped.
A member of the 2010 Texas Rangers, it was Guerrero Sr.'s only appearance in the Fall Classic as the team fell short to what would turn out to be a dynasty San Francisco Giants team. Now in 2025, before the World Series began against the Blue Jays and Dodgers, Vladdy Jr. was asked what he'd do with the ring if they won and to no surprise it would be shared with Hall of Fame father.
Rangers Sports Network successful at growing viewership in 2025
The Rangers took a big leap heading into the 2025 season with the introduction of their new television network, Rangers Sports Network (RSN) after years of dealing with the uncertainty and bankruptcy of then Bally Sports.
Thankfully it was successful, boosting viewership of games by 37% from 2024. There is however no indication of what the revenue difference was and if it surpassed, matched or fell below the $90-$95 million the team received from Bally in 2024 but club officials did seem to acknowledge the revenue was not "initially able to match the previous revenue figure", according to Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant.
Pirates interested in trading Joey Bart to Texas?
Just like the Rangers, the Pittsburgh Pirates seem to be struggling with one of the most important positions on the diamond: catcher. Logjam with young talent, Joey Bart, Henry Davis and Rafael Flores. They could be looking to unload that logjam by parting ways with once second overall pick in Bart.
At the trade deadline, DLLS Ranger's Jeff Wilson reported Texas was interested in Bart and still listed him as among potential backstops to trade for this winter. According to FanSided's Pirates page RumBunter, Pittsburgh should rekindle those trade talks with Texas in hopes of unloading Bart for young talent, one of those mentioned was 26-year-old lefty Robby Ahlstrom.
