The next Rangers' milestone we want to see after Jacob deGrom's 100th win

Now that Rangers' ace Jacob deGrom has finally reached his 100th win, we decided to take a look at another all-star who could be the next player to reach a significant milestone. Power-hitting shortstop Corey Seager is nearing a big mark, and though he is currently recovering from back inflammation, there is still a chance that he could hit his 250th home run if he goes on a tear when he returns.

Seager currently sits at 228 career homers, leaving him 22 dingers short of what would be a feather in the cap of the two-time World Series MVP and author of the most famous Astros mic-drop slam in Rangers history, "I guess we'll never know."

Seager getting (and staying) healthy and going on a tear to reach home run 250 would be a huge boost to the Rangers

Seager, for all his heroics and talent, is currently mired in the worst slump of his career. Before landing on the IL, he was 6 for his last 60 dating back to April 25, and 0-25 when the Rangers and Seager decided something was amiss and sidelined the slugger on May 13.

His average sits at a very un-Seager-like .179 with an OPS of .638. Seager has a track record of twelve years that proves these awful numbers to be an aberration, but if the Rangers want to compete for a postseason berth, they will need their stud SS to revert to his standard of greatness.

But with Seager headed to Frisco on Tuesday for a rare rehab assignment, it appears he is close to returning and, hopefully, turning his season around as we approach the midway point.

And to reach that 250 homer mark this year, he would have to turn it around and go on a tear. He would need to hit 22 homers in approximately 95 games to get there. If he does, however, it would almost certainly mean that the Rangers are in contention to either win the wide-open AL West or nab a wild-card berth.

He would also need to stay healthy for the rest of the season, and with Seager, that has proven to be a tough thing to do as he hasn't played in more than 123 games since 2022.

Nevertheless, Ranger fans are hopeful that this milestone storyline is part of the summer session and will be fun to track as the team contends come August and September.
