First baseman Blaine Crim has been on a one-man wrecking crew tour of the Rangers' minor league system since getting drafted seven years ago.
No matter the level he's played in, the 27-year-old has never not hit the baseball. Crim is batting .293 with 103 home runs and 416 RBIs in nearly 600 career games. The 19th round pick out of Mississippi College has been by all definitions a masher of baseballs, hitting at least 20 long balls the last three years.
And the production hasn't changed to start 2025, as Crim is off to a .318 start with six homers and 21 runs batted in. Therefore, how has he not been a consideration for at least one call up to the big leagues?

The time has come to give Blaine Crim a shot with the Rangers
In two full seasons with Triple-A Round Rock, Crim has produced at probably his best level throughout his professional career. In over 300 games, he has recorded 48 of his career homers and 197 of his 416 RBIs with the Express, dating back to 2022.
Earlier this year, Crim was named the Pacific Coast League's Player of the Week for the week of March 31-April 6. In that span he went 13-for-25 (.520) and at the time was riding a 14-game hitting streak, dating back to the end of last year.
Crim has seen minimal time with the big league team over the last four years as a minor league spring training invite. The numbers don't overwhelm but it's only been 54 games and his 2025 stint was perhaps his most successful spring.
The state of the Rangers offense is in disarray and has been for quite some time. Last year, we chalked it up to a set of injuries and the famous "World Series hangover" but even after making what was supposed to be positive additions over the winter, Texas is still searching for their form.
An opportunity is there for Crim as Jake Burger and Joc Pederson are struggling, hitting a combined .140. Both play positions or fill spots in the lineup that could be filled by Crim. He is also hitting against pitchers from both sides, lefty and righty to start the year.
It's been bothersome that over the years Texas has continued to recall the same prospects over and over again depsite others performing better. Last season it was Justin Foscue and over the past few years its been Ezequiel Duran getting sent back-and-forth.
At some point, it has to be Crim's time. Especially when he is not only hitting for contact and getting on base but slugging as well. I envision 2025 will finally be his time, let's just hope it's soon to give them a jolt of energy.
