This Rangers veteran is a strong candidate to bounce back at the plate in 2025
The Texas Rangers' offense was not great in 2024, and this was partially a result of one of their star outfielders underperforming. That player was Adolis Garcia, a two time All-Star and the ALCS MVP during Rangers' 2023 World Series run.
He was relied on heavily last season and regressed. But, there is a very high chance Garcia bounces back to form in 2025. His power and exit velocity are excellent. These traits will help the slugger get back on track.
This Rangers veteran is a strong candidate to bounce back at the plate in 2025
In 2023, Garcia had a great fWAR of 4.6, emerging as one of the best hitters in Texas' lineup. He put together a solid season by slugging 39 home runs and 29 doubles. His OPS was great at .836, along with a wRC+ of 126. His offensive numbers were just what the Rangers needed, but that did not translate to 2024.
Last season, Garcia posted a batting average of .224 with 25 home runs, driving in 85 runs. His OPS sat at just .684, and he earned a wRC+ of 92. But, if he can continue to keep the same approach, his numbers could jump right back up.
Hitting is an inexact science that could breed a myriad of different results. A player could take a brilliant approach at the dish, but still end up with questionable basic stats by the end of the season. Some of Garcia's advanced metrics are slightly concerning, but still offer reasons to be optimistic.
Garcia had a an Average Exit Velocity of 91 mph, Barrel Percentage of 12.5%, and a Hard Hit rate of 48.2% in 2024, which were all ranked in the 75th percentile or higher. All regressed from his 2023 performance, having an Average Exit Velocity of 92.1 mph, Barrel Percentage of 16.1%, and a Hard Hit rate of 49.7%.
If Garcia can continue to put the barrel on the ball, his results could spike right back up. The Rangers are missing a bat like the 2023 version of Adolis Garcia. If he can return to form, they could get back to the Postseason.
