Right on cue, New York Yankees' fans are still pining for one of the middle infielders who escaped their grasp five offseasons ago in favor of a ten-year deal with the Texas Rangers.

After swirling rumors all winter about a potential Corey Seager trade to the Bronx, fans have reignited those hopeless dreams just two weeks into a season where the Yankees have started 8-2, topping the American League.

Yankees' fans just can't seem to let Seager go

Not sure if it's a mentall illness or simple delusion but even after losing out on Seager back in 2021, Yankees' fans are still holding out hope the 30-year-old ends up in pinstripes one day.

It could be the entitlement that they believe their team deserves all the stars or straight desperation for having lackluster infield. Maybe it's a bit of both. Who's to really say.

Based on a Joel Sherman report in February, the Yankees reached out to Texas about the shortstop and the news went off like a wildfire. Those rumors were mostly prompted by the Rangers trading Marcus Semien to the Mets and thinking Texas was going to tear it all down during the offseason.

Now, only 11 games into the 2026 regular season, Yankees' fans are already frustrated with the makeup of their infield. Of course, Anthony Volpe's early career has been hit-or-miss and as he's on the IL, Jose Caballero hasn't been the answer.

In addition to Caballero, manager Aaron Boone has been slotting in Ryan McMahon at the hot corner which is also not good. Both are hitting a combined .115 with no home runs and four RBIs. There's also not much to be patient for as Volpe is still about a week or so from playing rehab games in the minor leagues.
