Rangers' third baseman expected to bounce back in 2026

Seems Josh Jung might be a candidate to experience a bounce back season after a couple of consectuive years marred by injuries and underperformance. While he did play in the most games of his career during the 2025 season (131 games) he hit just .251/.294/.390 with all career lows and even was sent down to Triple-A Round Rock. The former All-Star doesn't need to be the best hitter on the roster but having him be more of the 2023 Josh Jung would solve a lot of problems for the Rangers this year.

Rangers ranked 20th in first MLB power rankings of new year

Rangers' fans won't be surprised to find out that the Rangers have come in among the bottom 10 of the league in MLB.com's first power rankings of the new year. Sitting at No. 20, it's mostly because last season was so disappointing and the offseason hasn't seemed to shift any mindsets. Hampered by payroll restrictions and a lot of unknowns surrounding players abilities to turn it around on the offensive side in 2026.

Texas hits 26 straight year of avoiding arbitration hearing

One of the most impressive yet pointless streaks in MLB is the Rangers 26th straight offseason avoiding an arbitration hearing with their elibigle players. Earlier this week they agreed to deals with their four remaining arb players (Jake Burger, Josh Smith, Ezequiel Duran and Josh Jung). Burger and Smith will make near $3.2 million, Jung $2.9 million and Duran $1.375 million. They entered the offseason with nine arb-eligible players.

Latest offseason injury updates

While the main storyline of the 2025 season the lack of offensive production another big sticking point was injuries to more players than in recent years. With a month left before players report to spring training, it seems most of the guys are on track to return by spring. That list includes Corey Seager, Cody Bradford, Nathan Eovaldi, Cole Winn and Evan Carter.

Rangers acquire set of depth relievers

This week Texas grabbed two pitchers that could provide an extra level of depth going into spring training. First it was making their deal with 31-year-old Nabil Crismatt official, then added two former Rangers in Patrick Murphy and Zak Kent. Those deals are just a handful of low-leverage moves that Texas is hoping turn into a diamond in the rough for their bullpen this year.
