Here's where the Rangers rank in MLB among teams with most in Silver Slugger winners

For a team that has been as prolific on offense as the Rangers have been since 1990, you would expect them to be close to the top of Silver Slugger total awards won since its advent in 1980, sponsored by Louisville Slugger.

There weren't many trophies from 1980 to 1989 during the Bobby Valentine era, but with players like Juan Gonzalez, Pudge Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez, Rafael Palmeiro, Josh Hamilton, Adrian Beltre and Corey Seager having stints with the organization from 1990 to the present, the Silver Slugger awards have accumulated.

Familiar names have won the award recently for Texas

Most recently, Josh Smith took home the hardware in 2024 at the utility position. In 2023, the All-Star pairing of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien both won the award. And don't forget about Nathaniel Lowe, whose 2022 campaign earned him a Silver Slugger at first base.

The Rangers rank fourth overall with 27 Silver Slugger awards, with most of them coming from 1989-2012.

As you might expect, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are among the clubs with more, considering the money they have been able to spend on numerous marquee players. But the most surprising of that list is the Washington Nationals, with the third-most Silver Sluggers in MLB, at 29.

Pudge Rodriguez leads the way with 6 Silver Sluggers

Franchise stalwart and perennial All-Star catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez won 6 Silver Sluggers from '94-'99. Juan "Gone" Gonzalez nabbed 5 trophies in '92, '93, and from '97-'99.

A handful of familiar names have claimed the award three times, including Alex Rodriguez, who claimed a Silver Slugger all three years he spent in Arlington from 2001 to 2003. As did Josh Hamilton, who pulled off the trifecta in '08, '10, and '12.

Line drive, gap-hitting second baseman Julio Franco won three straight from 1989 to 1991, while 2-time winners include Adrian Beltre, Alfonso Soriano, Mark Texeira and Al Oliver.

Other Rangers who claimed one Silver Slugger include Vladimir Guerrero Sr., Ruben Sierra, Harold Baines, Rafael Palmeiro and Buddy Bell.
