Wyatt Langford is having a monster spring training. In 39 plate appearances this spring, the 2023 first-round pick has slashed .455/.538/1.000 with five homers and 15 RBI. We typically only see those types of numbers on MLB The Show.

Rangers' Wyatt Langford appears poised to have MVP-level season
It isn't far-fetched to suggest that Langford could be an MVP candidate in 2026. At just 24 years old, Langford has already accumulated 9.5 bWAR across two seasons with Texas. He's been a solid hitter throughout his short MLB career, slashing .247/.335/.423 (121 OPS+) with 38 homers and 136 RBI across 268 games, but we all know he can be even better. The fact that Langford posted 5.6 bWAR last year and has yet to unlock his full potential at the plate should scare the rest of the league.
While many believed Evan Carter would be the Rangers' starting center fielder this season, it appears that Langford will hold down the position, as the former Florida Gator has been starting in center while Carter has mainly started in left in recent spring training games.
Langford has all the tools to be among the league's best players
Starting in center over left field gives Langford an even greater chance of being an MVP candidate. Last season, he posted five Outs Above Average (OAA) in 121 attempts as a center fielder, and five OAA in 212 attempts as a left fielder. His speed and ability to read balls off the bat make him one of the best defensive outfielders in the game. As a primary center fielder, he will be much more valuable than if he were the Rangers' starting left fielder.
Not to mention, Langford can steal some bases, too; the Rangers outfielder has swiped 41 bags thus far in his career.
Langford has already shown he is an elite defender and baserunner while being an above-average hitter in two big-league seasons before turning 24 years old. Hopefully, his offensive stats improve next season. But even if they don't, he's still an extremely valuable player. We Rangers fans just know his bat has the potential to be among the league's best. He's showing that this spring training.
It'll be tough to win MVP in an American League loaded with talent, including Aaron Judge, Bobby Witt Jr., Julio RodrÃguez, Cal Raleigh, Corey Seager and more. But if anyone can do it, it's Langford.
