Trade Rumors: Texas Rangers Joakim Soria

facebooktwitterreddit

Joakim Soria didn’t do himself any favors last night blowing his second save of the season a week before the trade deadline ends, but be that as it may, I still feel like the Texas Rangers are interested in trading Joakim Soria for the right price.  In today’s MLB trade rumors piece, I am going to look at possible landing spots for Joakim Soria.

Texas Rangers trade rumors are not flowing around very often, but they are still out there, and one of the main ones is about closer Joakim Soria. The main place that he is being tied to is Detroit right now, according to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports.

Joe Nathan is not having a good season for the Tigers, with an ERA of 5.89 and more than a couple of blown saves. The Texas Rangers would be looking for pitching depth in return, and I am not sure how much of that the Tigers have in the minors. LHP prospect Robbie Ray is with the Tigers AAA affiliate and is 5-4 with a 3.65 ERA in 15 starts, RHP Jake Thompson was just promoted to AA ball, and he had an ERA of 3.14 in High A ball this season. Jonathan Crawford is a Low A prospect that the Texas Rangers could also have some interest in for Soria. (stats according to baseballamerica.com)

The Pirates have also shown some interest in Joakim Soria, as well as the Angels, but if I had to bet I think the Tigers are the most serious about signing Joakim Soria. Of course, nothing would surprise me at all, especially if a team will throw some good pitching prospects at Jon Daniels and his crew.
