The Texas Rangers came back from behind again and added to their one run game winning record bringing that to 36-10. There were warnings given and a manager was tossed while a rookie player shot another bomb into the outfield stands.

Texas Rangers A.J. Griffin was the starting pitcher today and had a rough outing only going 1 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 strikeout all on 52 pitches. That’s obviously not the outing that Griffin was looking for while he is attempting to make a push for a playoff rotation spot.

The big point of emphasis tonight has to be the bullpen who came in and only allowed 1 more run throughout the night. That bullpen pitched 7.1 innings only allowing 5 hits, 0 earned runs, and 3 strikeouts.

The highlight of the night came during Nick Martinez‘s 3.1 innings of relief for Griffin. With Mike Trout on first the batter hit a line drive straight towards the pitcher and Nick Martinez got in the zone and snagged the ball out of the air behind his back during his follow-through. After that snag he then casually tossed the ball to first base for the double play.

Records are what this Rangers team is breaking and that continues with the bullpen’s 39th win tonight which is a franchise record, they only need 2 more wins to have the MLB record. What was once a big concern for the Texas Rangers has grown to one of their biggest strengths.

Offensively tonight rookie Nomar Mazara provided what the Rangers needed by delivering his 2nd bomb in as many nights. This 21-year-old is showing just why he is nicknamed, “The Big Chill” he is looking like a seasoned veteran which bodes well for the Rangers future. His recent homer came in the bottom of the 4th inning and was a 2 run shot that put propelled the Rangers to a 4-3 lead at that time.

The offensive performance of the night that may be under the radar was delivered by leadoff Carlos Gomez who went 3 for 5 and scored 2 runs. The defensive performance of the night, besides Martinez’s highlight catch, came from Tanner Scheppers who continues to show his stuff as he came in and struck out Albert Pujols to end an Angels opportunity with bases loaded in the top of the 8th.

Both Benches were warned at that point and Angels manger Mike Scioscia was heard through the broadcast cursing for a while after that moment. He was ejected later after he had a conversation with the Rangers 3rd base coach. Texas Rangers manager Jeff Banister said the two were discussing lunch plans.
