Bruce Bochy can immediately jumpstart the Rangers offense with this move

After scoring 19 runs in a three-game set with the St. Louis Cardinals, the Rangers' bats have gone ice cold again as they embark on a road trip that will take them through Tampa Bay, D.C., and up to Minnesota before returning home on June 13.

There has been one bright spot for the club despite the offensive struggles. Marcus Semien appears to have turned the corner snapping out of the funk that had seen his average reside below the Mendoza line the entire season.

It's time to move Marcus Semien back into his familiar lead-off spot in the order

Bruce Bochy has obviously seen Semien surge back to form, and moved him up from the seventh spot into the clean -up role on Friday, but it is high time to move the perennial all-star back to the top spot in the order where he will not only provide a spark, but also get an extra at-bat per game.

Including an 0-4 game against the Nationals on Friday, the Gold Glove second baseman has been on fire at the plate over the last seven games, going 11-22 with 3 homers and 6 RBIs. He has also scored 8 runs.

Josh Smith continues to struggle in the lead-off spot, going just 11-50 and scoring just 3 runs since May 21. Smith is not walking either and has struck out 8 times in his last 7 games. Bochy has already shuffled the lineup myriad times, attempting to jolt the bats back to life, but this is a move that needs to happen now.

I'm not suggesting benching Smith, as he still has the second-highest OPS on the team and is better than what they have on the bench. Just move him down to the bottom third of the order.

Marcus Semien has found his stroke for the Texas Rangers

Even more encouraging is that Semien appears to have found his power stroke that had been non-existent so far. Highlighted by a two-home run game against the Rays, he has begun to consistently drop the barrel on the ball launching balls at well over 100 exit velocity.

Maybe the best part of Semien's resurgence came on Wednesday when he took a ball on the outside corner and instead of trying to pull it and rolling over on it, he lined the ball to right field for a single. When he is using the entire field he is a very dangerous hitter.
