The Trade Deadline is a scary time. No one really knows what's going to happen, where a player will be traded or if he even will be traded. With the Texas Rangers season currently in limbo, they could go either way and Adolis Garcia's future might hang in the balance.
A postseason hero two years ago, Garcia is a fan favorite here in Arlington but struggled in 2024 and so far this season has been equally as disappointing. This might cause the Rangers to explore their options and move on from the slugging outfielder.
Garcia, 32, first joined the Rangers in 2020 and a year later experienced his MLB breakout thanks to Ronald Guzman hitting the injured list. He was named the AL Rookie of the Month for May 2021 and was named to the All-Star team.
However, his 2023 season was his masterpiece, slashing .245/.328/.508 with a .836 OPS, 39 home runs, 107 RBIs and nine stolen bases. His real league moment came in the 2023 American League Championship Series where he set a postseason series record of 15 RBIs and won ALCS MVP.

Last season Garcia struggled to find his footing, with just a .224 average, .684 OPS, 25 home runs, 85 RBIs and a 0.3 WAR. It seems the start of 2025 is a mixed bag as well, with an average near .220 and WAR just above replacement.
In the larger landscape of the outfield, Texas looks to have answers that give them a lethal future. Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter will man the left field and center field spots and Texas is happy about the progression of Alejandro Osuna, who was just recently promoted to Triple-A.
Despite his tough numbers he is still an attractive trade candidate for the Rangers as playoff teams are always seeking to add a player with raw power potential. Garcia adds the clutch factor, run speed and unlimited range in the outfield. His contract also appeals to teams, as he is will enter his final arbitration year next season.
