Rangers' third baseman on an epic run since return from minor leagues

He's playing like he doesn't ever want to go back to Round Rock.

The 2025 campaign was beginning to look like a lost season for Rangers' third baseman Josh Jung. He was clueless at the plate and found himself demoted to Triple-A Round Rock in early July in hopes of getting him back on track.

Since his return to the major league squad, the slick fielding third baseman is on quite a tear and he clearly doesn't ever want to go back to the farm ever again. Monday night's game-winning three-run walk-off homer over the New York Yankees was Josh Jung saying, "I'm baaack."

Josh Jung is tearing the cover off the ball since being recalled

Since returning from the minors, Josh Jung has played in 10 games. In those 10 games, he is hitting .382 with a slash line of .447/.647/.1,094. He has been a big part of how the Rangers are getting back into the playoff hunt, as the team is 8-2 in the games he has played in since his recall.

Monday night's game-winning homer was the cherry on top of what has been a late season resurgence for the 2023 AL ROY.

Jung's homer was an exclamation mark on his return to form

What made Jung's 401-foot bomb off of Yankee reliever Jake Bird even sweeter is that NY skipper Aaron Boone elected to walk Wyatt Langford to pitch to the hot-hitting third sacker instead.

To say that move backfired would be some kind of understatement as Jung stepped up to the plate with an unbridled confidence that resulted in the biggest hit for the Rangers so far this season.

It is great to see Jung returning to form. You hate to see guys underperform and struggle like he was before being sent down. His resurgence is coming at just the right time as the Rangers are trying to chase down both the Yankees and Mariners for the final A.L. wild card spot.
